Initial career as Architectural Designer in the office during formative years has led to a thorough grounding in the dynamics of the EPC work process. Held positions with notable national and international EPC firms, Contractors and Owners in foreign and domestic environments. With emphasis on sharp analytical skills, complemented by continuous learning problem-solving techniques, my experience is summarized as follows:

  • Produce and/or supervise the production of CPM computer schedules utilizing a variety of Project Management applications, primarily Primavera P3/P6 - planning projects at conceptual, summary-level through design-model, construction-detail, resource-leveled stages, in concert with management teams. Review best fit-for-purpose “constructability” during all of the project phases through EPC. Steward the plan and manage risk.

  • Track and report physical progress and/or budgetary performance. Analyze trends and, as required, adjusting and proposing design, procurement and construction strategies consistent with work-around, on-time and within budget completions - safety and quality assurance commitments being of main concern.

  • Develop and/or assist with the preparation of project budgets, definitive estimates, performance incentives, bids, trends, claims and progress payments. Implement cost tracking/forecasting mechanisms. Support negotiation of claims. Manage change and perform probabilistic and forensic analysis in single and multi-project settings.

  • Superintend Project Controls teams in-house and on-site during the project execution phase. Forecast craft resources and construction equipment usage and apply productivity measurements. Expedite construction material and equipment deliveries, and monitor/steward offsite fabrication, specifically structural steel fabrication, modularization and pipe spooling programs. Integrate field purchasing, and cost databases with the schedule. Monitor safety statistics. Plan system turnovers and startup with Operations. Adept at coordinating, communicating and managing the Owner/Consultant(s)/Contractor/Subcontractor/Operations interfaces. Author progress reports, chair meetings and make oral/visual presentations to clarify Project Controls methodology, strategies and concepts.

  • Develop new EPC business proposals, bench-mark historical projects and, where successful, assist in the development of FEED (Front End Engineering Development) plans. Form, coordinate, advise and/or directi Project Controls teams.  Participate in the formation and management of Joint Ventures/Consortiums to execute projects at the PMC/PMO (Project Management Organization) level Apply and integrate Project Controls criteria across multiple EPC Contractors - within the realities of regional, national, and international business practices.
