The SHEM Management System provides a structured set of controls for managing SHE in the business; to ensure and to demonstrate that SHE objectives are met. In practice it is a systematic and fit for purpose way of managing SHE risks through policy, personnel, resources and procedures.
It is not documentation alone or separate from the business - it is the way everything is done/managed
It requires the full participation and commitment of everyone involved in the organisation; a proactive SHE culture requires hard work and does not happen overnight.
