RECRUITMENT WATCH...

1018

Welcome to the April edition of the planning recruitment watch, brought to you by Project Resource Ltd. We bring you the latest trends in planning recruitment across the UK, helping you plot your next career move.

Demand for planners has picked up across the country since the start of March. Whilst there was some concern after a dip in February, requirements from employers are now coming in faster than at any other point since the New Year.

Across the Midlands and Anglia we are seeing renewed demand for intermediate planners from power, water and civils backgrounds looking to work on either a permanent or contract basis.

This demand for intermediate planners is repeated in London where a post recession skills shortage has created a growing number of vacancies for planners with rail or heavy civils project experience.

Both the North West and South West are reporting constant and consistent demand for intermediate to senior planners with demonstrable experience in the nuclear, power and oil & gas sectors. In addition, our Manchester planning team are reporting an ongoing desire to speak with planners with EPC experience to work on perm and contract positions in the North West.

If you are a planner and are considering your next career move, please visit our website today, we may have the perfect role for your experience and requirements. We also offer a referral scheme that rewards you for your recommendations, click here for details.

NEWS: SYNCHRO SPEAKING AT THE BUILDING INFORMATION MODELING SUMMIT 2012...

1042

Today, Building Information Technology has revolutionized the way stakeholders communicate, solve problems and design buildings, and has evolved into a business process which facilitates the integrated model throughout the lifecycle of a building to drive product, delivery and performance efficiency. With the broader use of BIM technology, how to effectively develop BIM to increase construction efficiency becomes a key issue to the conference as well as the entire industry.

With over 70 participants from general contractors and developers to consultants and architects joining in the debate, the Building Information Modelling Summit 2012 offered a significant insight into:

  • Achieving successful transition to get all stakeholders onto a single integrated building system
  • How to leverage the full potential of BIM throughout the various disciplines
  • Combating the BIM bugs and software glitches

As one of the speakers in the summit, Eric Olsen, Synchro Vice President for Partner Support and University Relations Director provided a view of using Synchro 4D BIM technology for delivery, planning and scheduling:

  • Why 4D system is used for planning and scheduling
  • How the 4D systems are used
  • Ongoing development of 4D BIM technology through partnerships with Oracle Primavera and Bentley Systems

At the meantime, with the Middle East on the verge of a BIM boom, the conference created a unique opportunity for local professionals to explore the future development of BIM and to leverage the business process to its full potential.

Partnered with CMCS, Synchro is actively used in various construction projects in the Middle East area.” said Eric, “Moreover, through Synchro University Software Program, we also dedicates to providing industry-leading construction software to schools and students in the Middle East with no cost in support of their Construction Management education.

To date, American University of Sharja has already been in the program bringing them a latest access to advanced 4D BIM technology and effective interaction with the global BIM professionals.” Eric said.
