Project Manager / Lead Planning Engineer, Sellafields Sites Ltd, Pile Fuel Cladding Silo

START Date:
October, 2010
END Date:
October, 2013

Employed initially to put together a detailed schedule for the entire portfolio from design (2011) through to construction / commissioning & then retrievals (around 2018).

I managed the main reinforced concrete build sub-contractor (Sir Robert McAlpine's) schedule, including EV Reporting & cost control for the construction of the Retrieval & Control Buildings. This included maintaining project integrity by managing the change control of the project via meetings which I chaired & the production of valuations based upon schedule progress (gained from walking the site each week) against which monthly payments were made. I defended the client from potential claims from the contractor (GC works contract).

In parallel to the above, I managed the safety case schedule, which incorporated the production of engineering documentation to demonstrate to the regulator that the engineering was sufficiently robust to allow the cutting of holes into a Silo holding Intermediate level waste, thus allowing the waste to be removed to a repository. This documentation was approved through a complex approval process including various committee & bodies & eventually delivered to the regulator for permission prior to the silo being breached.
