Lead Planning/ Project Controls Engineer –

KEARL Oil Sands Project (Calgary, Canada - Current Assignment from Aug 2010)

Point Thomson Project (California, USA – from Jan 2009 to July 2010)

  • Primarily responsible for supervising the planning and scheduling EPC activities of Fluor on the Kearl project. At Point Thomson project supervised the EPC scheduling activities of WorleyParsons and Flour, URS (Environmental & Regulatory consultants), Drilling and drilling support team, Exxon Commercial agreements with WIO and the state of Alaska, EMDC procurement and management teams.
  • Review the new contracts scope of work, review bid schedules, track all Engineering deliverables and final punchlist development, review and approve the overall EPC monthly progress and updated schedules. I prepare and present the monthly schedule and earned value stewardship report to senior management.
  • Developed the planning and scheduling sections of Project Controls Procedures, Project Coordination Procedures. Ensured that the project plans and schedules adhere to EMDC procedures and project goals are achieved.
  • Developed the EPC Schedule Specifications, Schedule Basis Memorandum, Estimate Basis Memorandum, WBS structure for Gate 2 and Gate 3.
  • Supervised the EPC contractor planning team in the development and maintenance of a detailed level 3/4 Schedule for the Engineering, Procurement and Construction phases of the project. Ensured that the project plans and schedules represent the current approved scope and execution strategy. Also carried out analysis of the updated schedules, prepared monthly variance reports.
  • Developed the Integrated Project Master Coordination Schedule (PMCS), which is a level 2 logically tied schedule.  Also developed a summary level 1 schedule for management review. These schedules are updated monthly.
  • Reviewed various optimization scenarios for the project and worked out the risks and impacts on the overall critical path. The risk register is reviewed/ updated on a monthly basis with project team. Also Ensured the Management of Change Procedures are followed by the EPC contractor.
  • Developed manpower histograms for the project and worked with management in optimizing the camps capacity.

Coordinated several workshops for planning, constructability study, logistics, and long lead equipment, lesson learned, benchmarking. Worked with the functional team in performing health checks and audits of the EPC contractor’s schedules and cost data. Participated in group based problem solving and decision making, meeting management, facilitating in face to face groups.
