PERSONAL SUMMARY

Positions Held; Apprentice Pipefitter, Time Served Pipefitter, Trainee Planner, Planning Engineer/Outage Planner.

I am an ambitious and driven individual with a professional and academic background in mechanical engineering.

I have strong communication, analytical and problem solving skills and I am also a firm believer in effective team working.

My most recent experiences have been gained whilst employed as a Planning Engineer in the Oil and gas, Nuclear, Petrochemical, Pharmaceutical & Thermal industries, during this time I have been involved in developing project plans using Microsoft Project & Primavera Versions 3 - 6, monitoring progress and attending regular meetings. My other duties have included tracking labour performance on large scale projects and creating reports for the Site Manager.

I am a good team worker and also self motivated, a self reliant and disciplined individual capable of working on my own, setting and meeting targets.

My aspirations for the future are to be employed by a forward thinking organisation that can see my potential and are willing to support me in achieving my goals as a planning engineer.

Countries worked in; UK & Poland.

CAREER HISTORY

Petrofac Offshore Projects & Operations (OPO)

Based on-site in the Shetland isles, working on the Laggan Tormore gas plant project which had a value of circa £2.5 billion. My role was being responsible for the production and delivery of level 1/2/3 plans of varying detail and complexity. Planning all parts of the project including construction, pre-commissioning and commissioning. Other duties included monitoring and reporting progress, ensuring that schedule requirements are maintained and identifying risks and problems and implementing changes to rectify this.

January 2012-December 2012

Petrofac Offshore Projects & Operations (OPO)

Based on-site in Gdansk, Poland working on the FPF1 floating production vessel refurbishment project which had a value of circa £450 million. My role was being responsible for the production and delivery of level 1/2/3 plans of varying detail and complexity. Planning all parts of the project including marine, topside and accommodation. During this time I was also responsible for the interface between Remontowa and Petrofac. Other duties included monitoring and reporting progress, ensuring that schedule requirements are maintained and identifying risks and problems and implementing changes to rectify this.

February 2011 – January 2012

Weir Power & Industrial Outage Planner – Hunterston B Power Station

Producing resource loaded plans, applying the logic, monitoring, reporting and updating progress. Attending co-ordinating and chairing meetings. Liaising with the client, contract partners on a regular basis and revising programme logic when necessary. Calculating labour performance on large scale projects to monitor and control expenditure. All done using primavera planning software version 6.

November 2008 – January 2011

Doosan Power Systems Outage Planner – Hunterston B Power Station

During my time at hunterston power station I have been involved in the pre planning and execution phase of a number of various projects, ranging from statutory outages lasting 61 days, forced outages lasting 55 days. Two interim outages which were slightly smaller with a duration of 32 days, pre statutory outage planning for fabrication of stainless, carbon steel pipelines and gas circulators which had to be ready and tested for the start of the outage, which in duration was around 92 days.

The planning for these projects included scaffolding, insulation, mechanical works of piping, valves, pumps, motors, vessels, NDT, pressure testing and recommissioning at the back end  of the project, which gave me experience in the various disciplines of engineering of the jobs from start to finish. Planning package used for these activities was primavera planning software versions 4-6.

March 2008 – October 2008

Doosan Power Systems Shutdown Planner – Cockenzie Power Station (Coal Fire)

Pre-planning and execution on unit 3 and unit 4 back to back shutdowns. Reporting directly to the lead planner and directing which jobs were being engineered into the plan, reviewing the workscope regularly, with regards to the change of scope. Preparing plans for the pipework fabrication. Prepare planning procedures deciding on programme requirements, level of detail & resource planning requirements.

Ensure the appropriate interfacing of programmes between engineering, construction & commissioning. Preparation of reports, indicating planned, actual & forecast. Inputting emergent work/changes to the programme, histograms, progress curves, analyse & produce the effects of these changes to the client.

Overseeing the pre-fabrication of pipelines that were required to be complete for the start of the shutdown. Assessing work scope & developing isometric trees from PED/ELD, isometric & general arrangement drawings to identify any potential clashes with existing pipework or any other permanent fixtures which could have an adverse effect on the programme.

Working closely & liaising with all disciplines of client and sub contract supervisors, engineers, and maintenance and shutdown personnel. All planning was done using Microsoft project planning software.

November 2007 – February 2008

Doosan Babcock Trainee Planning Engineer – Longannet Power Station (Coal Fire)

Shadowing / Working alongside the lead planner on boiler shutdowns, reporting & updating progress, attending weekly progress meetings with the client, issuing weekly lookaheads for supervisor’s specific requirements as required by the project.

Working & liaising with supervisors, engineers & maintenance/ shutdown personnel on site. Placing emergent / new work into the plan. All planning was done using primavera version 5.

Pre work walkdowns to identify any potential issues with the location of new pipelines on plant.

September 2006 – October 2007

Doosan Babcock Trainee Planning Engineer – Grangemouth Petrochemical Plant

During my time at grangemouth I was involved in the pre planning & execution phase of a number of various projects, including the destruct and renewal of pipelines, planning of the G4 turnaround (3 months in duration) I developed the resource levelled plan for the mechanical and piping packages associated with this part of the turnaround. This required the mechanical plant, piping fabrication and installation sequence to be developed from information taken from the ELD/PED GA’s and isometric drawings. Also in my remit was to oversee the pre fabrication, installation of carbon, stainless steel pipework and various items of plant i.e., vessels, pumps and reactors etc.

All other turnaround requirements such as scaffolding, insulation, mechanical pumps, motors, valves, vessels, NDT, pressure testing and recomissioning of the plant had to be developed within the plan.

August 2002 – August 2006

Doosan Babcock Apprentice Pipefitter to Time Served Pipefitter – Various sites around the UK Including GSK Irvine, Roche Dalry, Hunterston A&B Power Stations, Doosan Babcock Fabrication Workshop @ Renfrew, Eastman Chemicals Workington and Grangemouth Petrochemical plant.

Trained and experienced in all areas with regards to measuring, fabricating, testing and installation of pipework systems and associated support steelwork.

During my apprenticeship I  gained a vast knowledge of various piping materials, working from engineering line diagrams (ELD’s) piping line diagrams (PLD’s) general arrangement drawings (GA’s) and isometric drawings.
