SENIOR PLANNING ENGINEER – HOOK-UP, Agip KCO , Kashagan EP

START Date:
August, 2007
END Date:
May, 2007

Planning the onshore hook-up, float out, installation and offshore hook-up for the Experimental Project (Island a & D) Kashagan Project in the North Caspian. The modules (barge mounted) were fabricated in various yards in Norway, U.K., Dubai, Malta and Italy. Once fabricated they were required to be dis-assembled in order to be facilitated transportation throught the northern Baltic to Caspian and the southern Black Sea to Caspian canals. These modules were then taken to shore-based Caspain yards where re-assembly and further onshore hook-up is completed prior to float-out and installation on the main Island D. The modules are raised on their barges and piled to the seabed before being enclosed in a coffer dam and aggregate infill. Once intalled the planned hhok-up was comp’leted up to the commissioning phase. The main challenges of this particular project are the logistics of transportation through both canals which is restricted to summer traffice only due to ice build up in winter and the logistics of having sufficient marine logistic support in the Caspain for the largest project undertaken world-wide. The initial phase (EP – Experimental Project) is designed to bring the first 300,000 BBL ashore by 2010. Full field production is programmed to reach 1.6 million BBLscope of work for Phase 3 (FEED) of the project and prepare the Project Execution Plan for faproval by the DRB (Decision Review Board) and the PAC (Partners Advisory Committee).
