  1. In detail perceive the company’s strength, weakness, opportunities and threats in the areas of design, micro planning at department level, skills available in each Production Department/Section/Cell, effectiveness of QC, Yard Service and Supply Chain Management.
  2. Keep up-to-date on all market related information in the merchant vessels and offshore sector, the Repair market, Defence market and discuss perception with Top Management on Shipyard Product profile and diversification, to

Based on Company’s decision on any new project process tender, technical specification and schedules, in close coordination with Design, Marketing, YS and Production to arrive at optimum milestone dates for Keel Laying, Launching and Delivery. Give adequate data to clearly identified Yard building slots, together with man-hour capacity available.
  4. Receive contract with specification & forward same to Design, prepare Macro Schedule of project year wise & Identify key milestones.
  5. Provide to Design Department the materials requirement dates on receiving POS information from them, to enable Design to thereafter raise indents.
  6. Incorporate projects Macro Plan with existing on-going project schedules and prepare General Production Schedule (GPS), clearly identifying loading capacity utilisation and on Plant Usage.
  7. Generate, update and maintain through constant and regular feedback from project coordinators, efficiencies being achieved by the Company Section wise. Compare with international and other Indian Shipyard benchmarks.
  8. To set clear and measurable benchmarks, periodically reviewed and each Section/Cell made aware of performance achieved on weekly basis through display boards kept in each section.
  9. Periodically, review manpower allocation and efficiencies and give feedback to HR and SCM to augment/reduce manpower resources internally or through Outsourcing. Give feedback to Training on skill level shortages in each Section, Cell, in consultation with Production Heads.
  10. Periodically, update Yard Usage plan including space management of Dry Dock, space management of berths, and other critical yard space, services and equipment. Analyse and prepare gap analysis reports as input documents for future infrastructure projects.
  11. Allocate and depute project coordinators to coordinate and monitor each project individually between Design, QC, Production, YS and SCM and record daily feedback on progress achieved and efficiencies achieved and identify and flag bottlenecks.
  12. Generate Material Monitor for all critical materials to be purchased, or orders to be placed for next week, next fortnight, next three months: using Design & Material tracker, liaise with design, YS, Production & SCM to ensure Master Design Schedule and Master Material Schedule adherance.
