I had joined as a Planning Engineer in Inma Steel Fabricators Co. Ltd. KSA on September 10th, 2005. I served there up to August 31st, 2007. Inma Steel is a Fabrication Industry manufacturing Pressure Vessel, Heat Exchanger, Columns, Towers, Reactors, Heavy Steel Structure, Piping etc. as per relevant Codes such as ASME Sec. 8 Div-I & Div-II, TEMA & RCB, API 650, ANSI / ASME B 31.1, 31.2, 31.3 etc. and conversant with various process of welding like GTAW, SMAW, FCAW, SAW & Plasma Cutting. The mentioned  product are manufactured with various grade of steel such as SA 516 Gr. 70, 60, 65, SA 515 Gr. 70, 65, SA105, SA106 Gr. B & SA 240 Type 304, 304L, 316, 316L, 321 etc. The above products are manufactured for Refinery, Fertilizer, Chemical, Petrochemical & Thermal Power Plant etc.

I had worked as a planning engineer in its planning department for 2 years. My duties & responsibilities as Planning Engineer were:

 

1.      Prepare and submit daily, weekly, monthly progress reports (Customer reports and Internal MIS Reports)

2.      Checking of preliminary drawings for all projects and incorporating the additional information/dimension required for fabrication and Feed back to appropriate co-coordinator to compile other shop supervisors comments.

3.      Check the dished head dimension for preparing shell cutting diagram to match ID of shell & ID of dish head.

4.      Monitoring of detail cutting diagram for each item.

5.      Preparation of Fabrication Sequence & Work Procedure as per construction drawings project specification/ITP etc.

6.      Preparation of PP & PC sheet as per STD format of quality manual.

7.      Preparation of daily progress report / check list for daily completion of own work.

8.      Prepares Spare Parts Data Packages for all projects as per As-Built drawings.

9.      Prepares & Present Planned vs. Actual Revenue Loading (Revenue Road map) for Chairman meeting.

10.  Prepare & update Fabrication Checklist for detail monitoring of Shop fabrication.

11.  Development of various Construction Schedules (Contract/Base line Schedule, 3 Weeks Look Ahead Schedule, Plan vs. Actual Comparison Schedule etc.), Updating of construction schedules & monitoring periodically. Manpower planning based on the updated schedules.

12.  Prepares and presents planning and scheduling information to management/clients as required.

13.  Leads the development and review of schedule recovery plans, including evaluation of additional resources required to affect such plans.

14.  Recommends alternatives for schedule improvement to project team for discussion and/or decision.

15.  Supports development of scheduling standards and procedures. Compiles, summarizes, updates, and maintains historical schedule data. Monitors and reports critical-path and schedule performance of the total project.

16.  Plans and organizes schedule resource loading and leveling. Integrates appropriate staffing requirements for each discipline/specialty relative to the overall project needs. Determines quantity and staffing levels in support of the project needs and schedule philosophy.

17.  Interfaces with designated management and client counterparts for specific planning and scheduling tasks.

18.  Provides comments and recommendations for planning and scheduling requirements relative to staffing and project control. Prepares detailed staffing plans for planning and scheduling activities.

19.  Maintain adequate database management system for all Planning Department documents & records.

20.  Liaise, consult, communicate and conduct weekly coordination meeting with engineers, contractors and subcontractors to monitor the progress of the project and discuss commercial problems that might affect the smooth construction flow.

 

Apart from all these activities I had participated in one Internal Auditing Programs as an internal auditor and taken audit and prepared audit report on “Contracts Department”.

Also I had to communicate with client’s expeditors regarding Progress status, Manpower status, Pictures for production progress, Shop layout etc.
