Project: Type 45 ‘D’ Class Destroyers, Bristol, England.
Contract value approximately £1 billion.
Employed as a Senior Planner in the Prime Contractor Organisation (PCO), for the production of three new Type 45 ‘D’ Class Destroyers (Displacement c.7,350 tonnes, Length 152.4m, Max.Beam 21.2m, Speed 27 knots+).
Responsibility for a fully Integrated Level 3 Resourced Programme to support the Design of Combat systems consisting of: PAAMS, Multi-function Radar, Long Range Radar, Combat Management System, Navigation subsystem, Communications Suite, Electronic Warfare, Identification Friend or Foe, Visual Detection, Medium Calibre Gun, Close Range Guns, Sonar, Torpedo Defence, Data links, Helicopter Support for Lynx or Merlin, Provision for Surface to Surface Guided Weapon, Provision for Anti-Air Warfare Inner Layer Defence, Provision for Torpedo Launch Systems. A power & propulsion system integrated along the lines of a power station, with electrical power being provided to both the ship and 20 MW propulsion motors through an integrated high voltage system, Accommodation areas, Design Authority, Development, Delivery and Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) covering preservation, spares, maintenance, plant availability and training for this class of ship to the Defence Procurement Agency (MoD).
Production of fully resourced programmes supporting the adoption of a build strategy based on the latest developments in advanced outfitting and modular construction techniques using Microsoft Project & Artemis Project Views.
Use of the Earned Value (EV) method of progress reporting and the production of progress reports to support this technique.
