Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Hi all,

I am still finding my way around P6 and would like to know if anyone can giuve me a step by step outline of how to create a a 2wk look ahead filter. I am familair with creating filters but have never done one for a look ahead. My two main questions are:

  1. Do I use the "Earliest start date"  and "Latest finish dates" instead of "Start" and "Fininsh"?
  2. I aslo want to include all work that is still in progress during the lookahead period regardless of when it starts or will finsh. Is this good practice to include this criteria as part of a look ahead schedule and if yes, how would I do that in combination with the dates filter in question 1 above?

Thanking ou in advance,

LP6

Hiahab all you did was copy mine

use the start and fiinsh dates do not use early and late

Display all rows            ParameterIs               Value                HighValue

Where               Start is within range of           DD                    DD+2W

Or                     Finish is within range of         DD                    DD+2W

Or                Activity Status                           equals                 In Progress

Why we are using late Finish in this below Filter?????

WhereEarly Startis within range ofDDDD+2W
  OrLate  Finishis within range ofDDDD+2W
  OrActivity StatusequalsIn Progress

In My Opinion below filter is enough.

WhereEarly Startis within range ofDDDD+2W

  OrActivity StatusequalsIn Progress

Irfan,

Thanks for commenting. Yes, your suggestion is certainly helpful especially using the "is within range" term.

I aslo wanted to know if it was necessary to aslo incluse a similar "where" clasue for the Finish date and for activities "in progress". I read on another forum that a look ahead schedule should show:

  • all things starting within the look ahead period
  • and finishing within the look ahead period,
  • as well as all things that are in progress withign the look ahead period.

Do others agree with the above? If  meeting all three criteria is the correct protocool would the following filter be suitable?

Display all rows Parameter Is Value High Value
Where Start is within range of DD DD+2W
Or Finish is within range of DD DD+2W
Or Activity Status equals In Progress

Thanks all,

Regards,

LP6

Hi,

In Primavera P6 ver. 7 have built in filter of Two Week Look Ached Schedule.

If you want to make in manually so here is the procedure of Two Week Look Ahead Sche.

Go to in Filter > Click New > Give a title of your filer > than chek the perameters like this < Where = Start > in within range of > Value = DD > High Value = DD+2W.

Hope this ill help u.
