Hi, You can make report to show predecessors and successors and also relationship type. Kindly refer to this article https://doduykhuong.com/2016/02/27/create-activity-list-report-include-p...

Rafael,
After resource leveling all critical activities will be sort of full path which can filter as critical but cannot trace back visually as P6 don’t have resource dependency option.

Rodel,

If after resource leveling it cannot display full path then implementation of Longest Path is kind of useless after resource leveling.

Rafael,
It will not show on Activity Window but instead on Activity Detail Window Relationship tab or Trace Logic Window. This will show preceding and succeeding activity. Like what I have mention on my previous post Abeer is looking for specific one to one link which is available on the report filtered or not filtered options whether lags or relationship type.

Again P6 don’t have dependency relationship option like Spider Project but can filter critical activities created by resource and as you also mentioned that Spider Projects also don’t filter or display longest path.

Rodel

Rodel,

I am not talking about filtering for predecessor but filtering for specific lag amount, about filtering for broken links in order to see specific links where out-of-sequence occurs, about filtering for type of link when looking for FF links only.

From your own words; “Like what I have said, it is not possible to show relationship type and lag at Activity Window only on Report.” I am exposing even SureTrak an already obsolete software can do that on a window, no need to generate a report every time you are in need to see or filter after a few changes in the schedule. It is either it can or it cannot, but not both, I still cannot believe P6 cannot show relationship type and lag at Activity Windows. Of course it is going to display the data on some other window, otherwise it would lack these functionalities and would be a Gantt only software. The issue is how practical it is and if it can effectively substitute what other software can easily do. Gantt charts lack dependencies links, it is dependencies what separate Gannt from CPM, dependencies are as important as activities, not being transparent about dependencies, not providing useful functionality to display all dependencies fields and to allow you to filter for them is quite a miss. I still cannot believe P6 cannot show relationship type and lag at Activity Windows or at a Links Windows where it should.

I was hoping not to keep on the very basics of displaying logic links but I was hoping to see how resource dependencies are displayed by P6. I always believed displaying only logic links and not displaying resource dependencies is like saying half the truth, it is not enough, you got to know 100% of what is driving your schedule, not merely a few and miss the rest, after resource constraining this is a must have. The same goes with Longest Path, if after resource leveling it cannot display full path then it is kind of useless after resource leveling.

Rafael,
Filtering of relationship is not an issue in P6. You can filter all activities with predecessor or success or without any link. P6 also have function of trace logic that automatically filter the preceding and succeeding task of selected activities in chart view and Relationship tab tables.

Abeer is requesting a special format that is available in Report having one is one relationship as shown the sample report I attached.

Rodel

Abeer,

How do you filter for out-of-sequence if you cannot see which links has been broken? How do you filter for a certain amount of lag, say 10 days, a common limit on lag our “Good Practice” suggest to watch for this value that whenever exceeded should be questioned? Do you have to create a full report every time, instead of just applying a filter and see the results on the screen? It must be quite annoying, does not make sense, there’s got to be a way to filter for lag, for lag type particularly FF, same as for out-of-sequence.

Even SureTrak (an obsolete low end product that cannot work under Windows 7 even if 32 bit) would allow you to filter for lag, although not for out-of-sequence or "broken links". In order to see and report out-of-sequence you had no other option than to make a schedule run and get the info from the schedule run report. In SureTrak on most layout views lag was unavailable but if you organized your layout by Predecessor or Successor then you could see lag and related fields, only on such a layout view you could filter by lag or a specified lag amount as there might be multiple links between activities therefore this makes sense, you got to identify the specific link.

The following is from a sample Primavera SureTrak job:

Filter for Lag

Instead of organizing by WBS try organizing by Predecessor, there’s got to be a way to filter for lag.

Rafael

7) Remove Successor Project on the right panel by double clicking
8) Arrange the Fields the way you want it by click arrow up or down then click Ok then click Next

Abeer,
You can show predecessor column but not lag and relationship type. You can create a Report showing all of those columns.

Abeer,
Right click on Predecessors tab and click customize Predecessors columns and select all the columns you need to show.
