Is there any setting that could fix this ?

Sansan,

Sorry for the late reply, I was tied up with the meeting. Here are the explanations on your query.

Planned Value Units/Cost is the portion of the budgeted total Units/Cost of the activity that is scheduled to be completed as of the project data date, according to the baseline. Computed as Planned Value Units/Cost = Individual resource Budget At Completion * (Data Date of current project - Baseline Assignment Start Date) / (Baseline Assignment Finish Date - Baseline Assignment Start Date). The Planned Value Units/Cost of an activity is the sum of the Planned Value Units/Cost of each individual resource assignment on the activity.

Ex:
Baseline Start (BS) = 28-Feb-2007 Wed
Baseline Finish (BF) = 01-May-2007
Data Date (DD) = 10-Mar-2007
Original Duration (OD) = 12d
Actual Duration (AD) = 9d
Remaining Duration (RD) = 3d
Budget Labor Units (BLU) = 1500
Actual Labor Units (ALU) = 500
Remain Labor Units (RLU) = 611
Actual Progress (AP) = 45%
Schedule % Complete (S%C) = 75%

Planned Value Labor Units
(PV) = BAC * (DD-BS)/ (BF-BS)
= 1500*(10/Mar/07 – 28/Feb-07)/ (14/Mar/07 – 28/Feb/07)
= 1500*(10-Weekend)/ (14-Weekend)
= 1500*9/12
= 1125
Or you can calculate it as Schedule % Complete * Budget Labor Unit
PV = 75% * 1500 = 1125

If an activity has no resources, its Planned Value Units/Cost is calculated as the Budget At Completion * Schedule % Complete [(Data date - Baseline Start) / (Planned Finish - Baseline Start)]. The Schedule % Complete specifies how much of the activity’s original duration has been completed so far.

Earned Value (EV) = 1500 * 45% = 675

From this method you can have 3 comparisons between ALU, PV & EV

I hope this help.

Regards,
Rodel

The planned value labor units column on the activity table shows zero hour whereas the planned value labor units of the activity usage spreadsheet by time interval shows positive numbers spread across months. My query is how to get the total planned value in the activity usage spreadsheet reflected in the planned value labor units column of the activity table.
I have sent you a screen dump.

Hi Sansan,

I’m not sure if I interpreted you query correctly. Plan Value or Budgeted Units are shown in usage spreadsheets depend on which field you’re looking at. It may be cumulative spread or time interval. You might also need to check whether your fields are only the remaining units or other fields. Can you be specific on your queries or give examples so other PP’s understand your queries and able to help you further.

Rodel
