Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Friends :

Does any one have a good suggestion as to how name or standardize the P3 programme name?

Like if by your client’s name say Gold properties then GP01, GP02, GP03 . . . . . (perhaps GP01 is the baseline and others the subsequent updates)

Or by the months / years for instance for Jan 05 (weekly updates) could be JN51, JN52, JN53, JN54 and then for Feb 05, to be FB51, FB52, . . .

If one is dealing with 5 projects or more and doing frequent updates and sending / receiving soft copies would definitely require some standardized P3 file names. Any suggestion on naming the P3 programme intelligenlty that immediately identifies the project and it’s update would be appreciated.

Thnx.

Shahzad,

Good news, Primavera programmers did work on this naming issue and now you can use any name or series of words that you want – only it is a feature of Primavera Enterprise, not P3. P3 will always have the 4-word naming limitation.

Incidentally, this is the Primavera Enterprise forum and not the P3 forum. As 4-letter naming issues do not pertain to the Primavera Enterprise forum, we will lock this from any further involvement. If you wish to discuss this further, please begin a new thread in the P3 forum.

Currently , your given method of nomination the subsequent updates seems Ok and correct but this does not corresponds to your project name and by utilizing this one cannot esaily identify the project to which this update belongs.

So there is only one way to idetify the project id that you may use one word of your project in assigning the name such as for Palm Al Jabel project updates for the month of Jan.05, Feb 05 , you may use PJ01, PF01...

Moreover P3 programmers should work on this issue to increase the number of digits in Project name to idetify the project easily.
