Unlike the data date in P3/P6, MSP's status date does NOT enter into the schedule calculations. In addition, there is no Original Duration, and the following always holds true: Duration = Actual Duration + Remaining Duration.
I expect MSP is calculating the finish date of 9/7/17 because that's what it was scheduled for already.
