Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Does anyone have experience yet with compatibility issues between MSP 2003 and 2007.

I understand the problems associated with downwards compatibility (i.e. 2007 -> 2003) but we seem to be losing quite a lot of data and functionality when reading 2003 mpp’s in MSP 2007.

Macro’s stop working and it looks like export maps are not compatible too. I’m certainly going to test this in the next few weeks but any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Niek.

Yes

There is a major bug which Microsoft say they are going to fix by christmas this year.

Beware, it occurs when importing from 2003 and then re-saving. It scrammbles the data. Microsoft have a "work around", which requires the user to save to a compltlet new file EVERY time a change is made. But they will not gauarantee that it will work all the time BEWARE.

My advice as a very experienced user is stick with 2003 or use Primavera !

page a few weeks ago which was written as a result of my frustration with Microsoft not advising people of the bug and not taking any action

Good luck but be careful, don’t use project 2007 for anything that might be used for contract/legal reasons, it is very very risky
