Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Hello planners
There are signs that Project scheduling and control is moving faster towards TOC (Theory of constraints).

1- Has anybody heard from Microsoft, if there will be (in near future) any Critical Chain & TOC capability added to MS-Project?

2- As MS-Project users, how much do you agree with the trend mentioned above(TOC becoming more popular)?

Have fun

Hello,

Please have a look at Lynx. Lynx supports critical chain project management for multi-project environments.

You can download a free version from www.a-dato.net!

There are two vendors that I know of offering Critical Chain add-ins for MS Project. Check out the the listings under Critical Chain Software.

Making all the feeder chain activities ALAP increase risks, buffer activities duration and cost shall be reconsidered with all schedule updates. It is not easy to do manually.

I have set up one client with Critical Chain scheduling in Microsoft Project. They were involved in an aircraft project.

It is a bit of mucking around but it is basically achieved it by making all the feeder chain activities ALAP and putting in buffer tasks in the appropriate places.

I think it has a lot going for it and I would like to see the functionality introduced into more software packages.
