Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

I have been given a MSP file that is about 4 MB but only has 40 activities. If I delete some activities and save it the file size increases. There are no graphics.

I have seen this before in MSWord with versioning turned on. Does MSP have something similar? I can’t find it.

You should check Tools, Organizer and delete from the rightmost column (pertaining to your project file) all the objects you do not want to use: i.e. views, filters, aso
MS Project does copy from the Global.mpt library file into the project file every management tool you want to use. The pro is your file can be transfered from one to another PC and be viewed as it is, the con is the large size of the file.

I have the same problem with a file expanding from 13Mb to 25Mb.
What you need to do is save the file as a Microsoft Access Database and then save it back as a Microsoft project file, this can take some time but it brings the file size down.
