Quantity Surveyor, Costain, Eight2O Alliance Contract – Monitoring of Outfalls Scheme

  • Project quantity surveyor for a £6m scheme leading all commercial project duties and reporting directly into the managing quantity surveyor.
  • Monthly forecasting and presentation of 3 monthly, 6 monthly and whole life forecasts to the senior project manager for review.
  • Project cost reporting such as cost versus forecast analysis and project end-of-life estimate analysis.
  • Payment application to Thames Water for the assessment of the value of direct staff, plant labour, materials and subcontracted scope executed within each accounting period. 
  • Contract administration of 6 subcontractors incorporating NEC 3 Engineering and Construction Contract conditions with pricing Option A. This involves the administration of early warnings, monthly payments to subcontractors, compensation events and subcontractor instructions.
  • Programme level early warning management, change management and risk mitigation in line with the applicable conditions of the Thames Water alliance contract. This is reported into the Thames Water programme lead on a periodic basis.
  • Management of two quantity surveyors in their membership application to the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (CICES).
  • Procurement of subcontracts and agreement of subcontract sum, conditions of contract, payment terms and works information with the subcontract contracts lead.
  • Distance mentoring of two graduate quantity surveyor currently working within the rail sector of Costain and responsible for the review of academic and professional work.
  • Production of all necessary commercial documents and estimates to produce total expenditure (TOTEX) and return on investment (ROI) as required through Thames Water governance for the release of additional project funding.
