Simple P6 Question

I'm sure this must be really simple to do in P6 but I can't work out how!
I have a task that is % Complete Type Duration, Task Dependent, and Fixed Duration and Units
It is a task which has started and must end on the 17 September 2012
I have set the Finish to Mandatory Finish of 17 September
When I schedule my plan, I want Primavera to automatically progress the % complete of this task when I change the data date
At the moment, when I schedule, it changes the end date even though it is set to Started and Mandatory Finish
Do I need to set an option somewhere to automatically update this task? I don't want to just do Update Progress as this will change all of my other tasks too.

Kate,
You are thinking of an Expected Finish Date, not a Mandatory Finish Constraint. IN addition, you must make sure that your CPM Scheduling Options page has a check on the, “Use Expected Finish Dates” option. Good luck!

Just because you say it must end on 17th September it doesn't follow that it will - delays do occur.
This is why you should never use any constraints in a programme.

Yes, you right when you move data date all duration will shift up. Because you don't have actual start date for some activities yet also I need you to check your Total Float you will see you have -ve values that mean you will finish your project behind the finish date you want. In this case you need to adjust the relations between the activities to make them finish at the day you want.
