Early & late curves can be generated straight away once you have resources loaded schedule in P6.

You can find these curves ready made for you in activity usage profile window.  Right click on the graph and select At activity usage profile options. Under Bar/curves, select Remaining Early or Remaining late curve.

Cheers...

Hi Arnold or other folks,

Please send me as well. I still don’t understand how to generate s-vurve in P6

I have not try this in P6 yet, but It should work.

If you make a copy of your current schedule and by using global change you constrain all your activities to be completed as late as possible, then all your resources will be allocated to the latest possible date.

I do not believe purely on early and late curves tho, probability of an schedule is the most important subject to asses if the early and late curves are healthy...

I do not use P6 but using Google found the following link that shows a way to generate the data for Excel, then with a knowledge of Excel or using an Excel template you can generate the combined curves.

http://primaverarena.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/S-curve-creation-for-P6.pdf

The following links provides some tutorials that might be of interest and perhaps showing a different approach.

http://www.toolboxforplanning.com/p/tutorials.html

http://www.toolboxforplanning.com/2010/10/excel-2003-tutorial-creating-progress-s_16.html

You can download their template or a modified version I just created to include early and late banana curves from the following link.

Photobucket

I prefer to display on the vertical axis the absolute values instead of percentages as it can create confusion when contract value changes.

Because of the way P6 stores period performance on uncompleted activities there can be discrepancies on displayed period performance if you do not make use of financial periods. The following link can provide you with an introduction on this issue.

Hope this help.

Go to the resource profile and right click then choose- Resource usage profile option in the Data section..

Choose Cost to display and also mark check box of remaining early & remaining late.

Then mark the resources in the left pane..you’ll find the graph for remaining early and late

Try to do this exersice and let us know the result

Hi Paul,

If you can do this in P3 you can also do this in P6. The same steps but different approach.

You must create two baselines in one project.

1. Baseline (Early Planned)

2. Late Planned

After creating these two, assign them. The first one as Project Baseline and the second one as Primary.

Try this and I will tell you what to do next.
