Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Friends,
One part of our project includes preparating of small work requests & estimating the Man-hours required to complete the Engineering work.
Electrical Heat Tracing expert seldom gives the Man-hours saying that it cannot be quantified at the start & even when Isometrics are issued.. My contention is that at some point of time, with historical data etc, one can always estimate the Man-hours required with more or less accuracy.
Are ther some standards linking Piping Isometrics (Length/Volume, type etc) with the Tracing Quantities & with Tracing efforts.
Cheers

Dear Izam,

You got me wrong. I am not talking about the relationship between deliverables.
My query was even after giving ISO’s for the Tracing team, we do not get how many mhrs/time is required for tracing work let alone getting a decent estimate after Layout/design.
This affects completion dates.
Normally when doing an EPCM/LSTK from the start we do have norms, but when the Project reaches a stage where Offshore Works come in piecemeals it becomes difficult to estimate.

Colleague,

To assign manhours for each deliverables nor CTR (Cost Time Resources based on nos of drawings, philosophy, specification and reports. if u talking bout link, of course Piping isometric will implemented after PDMS model and P&ID firmed out.
