Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

What do you call / how do you name your projects ?

I recently moved over from Primavera where projects are controlled from within the planning software using unique 4 character references. Now I’m managing PowerProject files from within Explorer like any other document file, I cant decide on a suitable system for naming the projects... how do you organise your projects within folders ie using a full project name, eg Bullworth High School Extension rev1, or by project ref eg C1099 rev1, or by revision and date eg Rev01 13.07.07 etc etc...

just would appreciate some different takes on your file management ....

I usually use the internal project reference number, an alphanumeric identifier such as CP for construction, IMP for integrated master, then a number starting at 01, then the revision number, then the date in reverse order, so

C26785/IMP/01 - Rev 01 070706

This way the latest programme is always at the bottom of the list.
