EDF (British Energy Group) - Sizewell B Power Station

Planner/Co-Ordinator PSR2 Group                Jan 2010 – Jun 2010

* Supporting the UK’s first Pressurised Water Reactor, part of the core team in planning (P6) and execution of the five-year, comprehensive review of Sizewell’s plant and systems, to satisfy the Nuclear Installations Inspectorate requirements governing the station’s capability to safely generate for a further ten years, from 2015.

* Also tasked with planning (P6) and co-ordination of a programme of sub-projects designed to refurbish, and/or upgrade as necessary, plant-associated buildings and large structures on site

Operations Outage Planner                      Oct 2005 – Dec 2009

* A member of the Outage Management Group, completing three 18-month operating cycles as an Outage Planner. My responsibilities covered Project Planning (Artemis 9000) of the run-downs and subsequent run-ups for both Turbine Generator Units, with Resource Planning for the Operations conventional systems; the pre-work isolation of plant/systems, and subsequent Safety Document issue; and post-maintenance testing, plant/system re-alignment and start-up.

* With safety paramount, and meeting the regulations of British Energy and the NII, I contributed to the completion of three successful Outages. RFO8, included replacement of the Reactor Pressure Vessel head; RFO9, being the shortest Outage to date at Sizewell B, and included replacement of TG1’s 3-stage LP rotor, and RO10 included replacement of TG2’s Generator rotor.
