Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Hi all,

Can anyone guide me in the right direction in relation to Estimating Software, maybe a good website etc.
Also, was given a starting point of a software package called "Candy", but can’t seem to find any info on it.

I hope someone can help out.

Many thanks,
Ger

I am Contractor in Hong Kong and Most of the Public Listed contractors in Hong Kong using Visual QSM Tendering Software. The software is much user friendly than other software i have seen. You don’t need long training period. Our company only take 1 week to implement the software.

One more important concern is they provides very good supports such as Internetional IP Phone and Remote-connect to your PC to solve any problems.

Hope this can help you.

You can visit their website www.qsmsys.com for details.

I work for a Company called Masterbill Micro Systems, based in St. Albans.

We have an Estimating package called Estimator Pro (£495) - it has a lot of features for the price. Our website is www.masterbill.com. We can send you a demo CD with a trial version if you like.

Here is a dump from my database of estimating software packages, mainly construction and building orientated, I have not updated it for some time so some may not be in business, the list tends to focus on those originated and/or supported in Australia.

You will also find on my websit a methodology for selecting project management software, this process I have used for a number of clients and works well.

I saw few times Candy, the inetrface is not real user friendly, how we are actual tarined with window system, but for estimation I think is real good. You can define task schedule with resoruce, workload, costs for each activities, and then use again and again for all the repetitive task or project that will come up, with few modifications.
In P3 is not so easy to set up such system, that simplify the estimator life.
Also in P3 You can not aggregate different level of resoruce, functionality present in Artemis (example say 1 mc concrete resoruce level1; aggrgate, sand, batch, cement resoruce level2.) that may help the estimator (is present in candy), but not allowed directly in P3.

just a suggestion why not using P3 as your estimation tools!! At the end of your estimation you will also have a project plan. What a deal!

Hi Ger

Candy was developed by a South African who used to work for Murray & Roberts building contractors. The system is now sold and supported by CCS in South Africa and has branches around the world. Go to www.ccssa.com and see where that takes you. I believe that it is one of the better integrated planning, estimating and project management tools around today.

I would invite you to review our eTaskMaker project planning and estimating system. It’s a bit different from most conceptual estimating systems.
