Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

I would add that you can go even further. SharePoint can be used as both CMS (content management system) and PM platform at the same time. But you will either require the help of 3rd party company, like Digital Design  or you will need an in-house SP developer (and a really good one). Because managing this sort of environment is no easy task, and not many IT specialists, even with broad knowledge base can do it.

And by the way. SP developers cost a lot, so maintaining such environment is although effective, can be a litte bit expensive over time. You might consider going with O365 and SP online straight away.

Looking at your requirements, I would recommend Microsoft Project Professional 2010 which offers exclusive features like at-a-glance resource management and team collaboration tools. Project 2010, built on SharePoint 2010, offers flexibility and choice and helps effectively manage any type of work, from simple tasks to complex projects and entire programs.
