Building Information Modelling

212

Welcome...

The Collaborative Building Information Modeling (BIM) Group has been established in response to the growing demand in the use and application of BIM.

BIM is, and has been subject to a lot of confusion in terms of application and education. The aim of the Collaborative BIM Group is to provide clarity and a clear definition on what BIM is and actually stands for, through professional development and education. The Group aims to link-up and collaborate with clients, designers and contractors and other industry professionals in laying down a respected and acknowledged standard that will provide a beneficial and respected direction for companies and individuals who wish to be involved in this specialist section of their chosen industry.

We have a number of on and offline facilities within the group from regular meetings globally with members face to face, a BIM knowledge Wiki tab through to consulting, research. lobbying and online forums. We also aim to set-up a Collaborative BIM Accreditation Scheme with the help of our Group sponsors to reinforce our quest. This accreditation scheme will allow each member to become part of something truly unique in terms of BIM on a professional scale.

  • BIM Knowledge Wiki - check out the wiki to find out, or share information.
  • BIM Group Lobbying - Dedicated to providing advice and lobbying clients and governments on the advantages in harnessing BIM, and to develop the BIM methodology for the benefit of the built environment.
  • BIM Group Accreditation Scheme – is for professionals who want to be accredited in BIM from 3D to 7D. The creation of this will be a world first and will draw in clients and companies who have an interest in developing BIM for current and future projects.
  • BIM Group Specialists Registry – A special group registry for members who wish to register themselves as BIM experts.
  • BIM Group Case Studies – A range of global case studies for the BIM Group members including past and current project experiences using BIM.
  • BIM Group Research – A section dedicated to research and development in BIM.
  • BIM Group Model Library - an upload & storage facility for members to upload 3d to 7D BIM models into the model directory and sell them on the market place to other members and companies.
