Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Dear Planners,

the first activity in the time schedule has TF=2 days and the critical activities are only 3 out of 600 eventhough no open end and no constraints.

Moutaz

Hi Moutaz,

I saw already your schedule. It seems that you have too much float which is not advisable. But to answer your query why you have a Float of 2days in your START WORKING activity?, you have to adjust your lag to its Successor;

A5310 Hand Over FS 105

then your float will be Zero. Also, put FF relationship if you are linking to Milestones not FS. As what I have mentioned in my previous post, you have to link a more logical relationship to achieve a good critical path. Try to avoid to much Float its no longer realistic....200days and more...you know what i mean.

cheers,

Dear all,

There is no must finish by constraint and no constraints at all.

may be this can be work for you.

Moutaz,
It seems that you have a Must Finish by date define which might be the cause of the problem.

Hi Moutaz,

Though you have completed your program, you have to check your critical activities then once more link it to be more realistic with your logic.

Moutaz,
Check the logic and filter the longest path. I suspect that it was lying on 3 long activities.

No multiple calendars, no resource in the schedule and no constraints.

Regards,

Moutaz
Hi Moutaz,

Do you use multiple calendars in your schedule?

If you did not use any constraints of Start No Earlier Than type then it may be caused by multiple calendars (and this may be true) or resource leveling (and this is wrong - Primavera does not calculate resource constrained floats properly).

Hi Moutaz

Following Vladimir’s question here are a few more.

1. Do you use very long tasks - 30 days plus?
2. Are you using SS FF Links?
3. Are you using + - Lead Lags?
4. Are any tasks set ALAP?

Best regards

Mike Testro
Did you level resources?
