Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

conceptual >> feasibility study >> basic engineering design >> detailed engineering design >> procurement >> construction >> commissioning >> performance testing >> provisional acceptance >> handover >> warranty period >> final acceptance >> operation >> rejuvenation/revamp >> the cycle continues....

David,

Thanks for your response.
My definition of a project cycle is from "Cradle to Grave"

There is always a logical sequence of work packages which can represent this, for example,

Identify requirement
Conceptual Study
Design
Manufacture
Commission, Test & Deliver
Through life costs
Product Retirement

These elements are common to almost any type of project.

PCS have a graphical representation of a typical project lifecycle which you may find beneficial.

see this other response ...

If a project is well organized, it will progress logically through several phases. There are four
standard phases to a typical project. The first two "concept" and "development" involve planning,
that is to say, identifying the concept and then developing this concept and the plan to accomplish it
as we have discussed. This usually leads to a formal submission of the plan (project brief) at which
a go or no-go decision is given on the basis of the plan. If approved, this leads to the second two
phases which are the accomplishment phases of implementing and finishing. As the names imply,
this means converting ideas on paper to reality and getting the job finished and turned over to the
customer.
Of course, different people in different project environments use different names but the principles
are the same. Also, projects in different fields may require the four standard phases to be broken
down further into stages such as separate feasibility studies; detailed design and working drawings;
procurement; construction; training, commissioning and transfer.

Project Life Cycle

Start of with an Idea

Then and OME study

Then a DFS Study

Then Implementation

Implementation is Broken Down to Engineering - Procurement - Fabrication - Construction - Commissioning - Project Close Out

Some time More than one DFS is done on different "What If" Idea’s and normally the cheapest win. Please note Interem Phases etc are also sometimes used.

Cheer

Marcio,

Every project is a unique, one-time endeavor with a specific start and end and lastly a strict budget. Due to a degree of uncertainty in accomplishing the project within that time period it is broken down into various phases from start to end (handover) to facilitate better organizational control. Collectively, these various phases involved to successfully carry out the project is called project life cycle.
If you need more information please use google search engine.

Guess:
Project life cycle = start & end of project
