Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Hi,

has anybody had any problems reading a XER file in Primavera P5.0 when it’s been created in Primavera P6.0?

A couple of our partners are reporting that their P5.0 software can’t read P6.0 XER’s. There is no option to create a version sensitive XER.

thanks

Upgrade to 6.2.... it allows for the export anyway (but yes you can just change the number at the top of the xer also.

Hi David,

First of all, Welcome to PP.

When it was created in P6 and open it in P5 then simply export the .xer file to Primavera Contractor P5.0-(XER).

The other way around is to export using the Primavera PM/MM-(XER) ans save it.

Then open the .xer file using notepad. Simply change the 6.0.0 into 5.0.0 and save.

HTH.
