Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Hi All,

I am unable to understand what is the use of "Specify the interval to summarize & store resource spreads" "WBS Level" and resource / Assignment level " under Admin Preferences - Options tabs.

Can anyone give me a detailed explanation for the use of this summarize levels.

hi,
I had met this problem a few month ago. At that time, I got a conclusion. If we set the interval=week, P6 system can assure the data are right only under the timescale interval is week. If it is month, the data maybe have some variance. For example,
1, the actual period progress of Jan 1 is 5%
2, the actual period progress of Jan 8 is 8%
3, the actual period progress of Jan 15 is 6%
4, the actual period progress of Jan 22 is 7%
5, the actual period progress of Jan 29 is 8% (include Jan 29, 30,31 and Feb 1,2,3,4)
so, if we display the actual progress under interval=month, the value will be 34%. All the progress of Jan 29 will be summary into Jan. In fact, progress of Feb 1,2,3,4 should be summary into Feb. That is the variance.

Best Regards

Haresh,
When running Tools-> Summarize (All Project, Open Project or Summarize only Project), the date interval settings on admin will be use (weekly or monthly).
For monthly it will be per month working hours while weekly will use Weekly working hours defined.
1 year = 52 weeks (which have overlapping month)
1 year = 12 months (have overlapping week)
If you are using Month on Timescale for summarized project then use monthly otherwise use weekly.
