Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Hello fellow planners,

Anyone can please send me some examples (macro?) to transfer data from P3 to MS Access and back?

I need to link some data in an Access Database to P3.

(by way of mirroring the P3 data tables in Access)

Thanks,

Gün Göksu :)

If you want to link P3 data into MS Access you have to install an ODBC driver that works with 16 bit data.
Doing so, ou can use P3 data directly in MS Access.
But you have to know how some things work, Otherwise it will crash instantly.

Why not export to a dbf file, this can be read directly by MsAccess

I don’t have a copy of P3 with me so I am guessing here. You need to go to Tools, Updata Data Dictionary and select Advanced. This will make your custom data fields available for RA to use.

Don’t know if this will solve your problem, but I think you would have to do this anyway.

Hello,

I’ve found the file from the cd.
\P3\Ra\samples\access\PRIMAVER.MDB

there is no documentation with it.
moreover, some stuff dont work in the file.
I did get the activity table. but not the CUSTOMCDI.
it gives an error: 3315 Field ’activityCDI.value’ cannot be zero-length string.

what could be wrong? any clues?

Gün.

There ia a MsAccess file on the CD which can link to P3 by RA also.
It performs same as XLS.

use p3 utilities, export 2 files

1 with schedule data
2 with relationships

after you get export in database, merge the two excel files and you have a complete schedule in db and can play with it in access then back to p3

enjoy.
