Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Planners,

Is it possible to split the Actual bar for example I have an activity Excavation Original Duration = 6 days
during status the activity acquired 90% complete with actual duration 33 = days but in reality it acquired only 6 days . Is it possible to suspend - resume actual activity and the actual bar will be divited to the real situation.

Thanks
Jun

I have had people come to me with this problem.

It seems wrong to show a bar from actual start date to actual finish date with no break in it, when it has been suspended and resumed.

This is catered for within P5/6 and is much simpler than creating a task sepcific calendar.

There is a tick box for ’activity non-work intervals’ under the bar-necking tab of the actual bar.

Hello Pacifico,

I know what you mean. You can split the bar by assigning special calendar. let say, from Sep. 1 to 30 there is no activity occur for excavation during these days.

Now, create a new calendar. Select Sep. 1 to 30 as Nonworking days, when done click OK. Assign this calendar to activity "Excavation". To be able to see the necking on the bar, go to View --> Bars --> Bar Setting Tab, Under Bar Necking select "Calendar nonwork time". But prior to mark the checkbox make sure you select "Actual Bar" under timescale.

HTH.

Hi Pacifico,

It is possible to suspend & resume activities with Actual start date. However, it is not possible to make your actual duration become 33 days. It will remain in 6 days or 5.4 days since it is 90% complete. Only the "At Completion Duration" can be extended to 33 or more days even though you will apply the suspend & resume date.
