Hi, does anyone know how to import activity step into P5?
I have a predefined activity step, name and description in Excel and I want to import or use it in P5 as a Activity Step template.

Also, how to export all those other activity templates in P5 to Excel?

Thanks!

Hi, importing it to excel does not give me an option in P5 to select the Activity Step Name and Activity Step Description columns. Weird isn’t it? Why P5 don’t allow those columns to be exported to Excel so that I can edit it and import it back to P5??

Thanks by the way....

You can just import it using the import function provided by the application.

In addition, there are tools in the market will help with very specific need to importing data into P5.

Another way to do that is -

Report - Add - New Report - Activity Steps - Activity Steps - Columns (Step Names, Step Descprition), Filter , Group and Sort .... Save report.

Once you saved the report you can open the report in CSV file format and it open in excel

Hi,
Thanks for the reply but a problem on #5 - "On Columns Tab Select Activities, Activity Steps data to export and activity name if necessary, otherwise accept the default."

There is no Activity Step Name and Activity Step Description. These are the 2 important columns I need to export.

The only column I can add under Activity steps are: Activity Step Count, Steps Completed, Steps in Progress and Steps Not Started.

Please help.

Yusuke,

Below are the Steps of export/ import method for Activity Steps.

Exporting Activity Steps to Excel:

1) Select File-> Export-> Spreadsheet - (XLS) and click Next
2) On Export Type tick Activities and click Next
3) On Project to Export -> Select the Export click box of the project you want to export and click Next
4) On Select Template click Add and rename your template for future use and tick Modify
5) On Columns Tab Select Activities, Activity Steps data to export and activity name if necessary, otherwise accept the default.
6) Select Filter tab and click Add
7) Rename your Filter
8) Select Data that you wanted to export and click OK then click Next.
9) On Select XLS File click and change the destination directory and filename so you can find it easily when modifying the data then click Next and Finish.
10) Open your exported excel file and you should have two tabs on worksheet correspond to “TASK” and “USERDATA”
11) From your excel sheet modify / edit changes
12) Save as your excel file to a new name so you can import it back to P5 Project
13) From P5, Select File-> Import-> Spreadsheet - (XLS) and click Next
14) Select File to Import and select the new excel file that you just modified and click Next
15) Tick Activities and click Next
16) Click Import To column and select the active project that required changes and click Next then Finish.

Regards,

Arnold
