Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

hi planner,
when am updating my program there is a variance between quantity at completion vs. original quantity, how can I freeze the QUANTITY AT COMPLETION in order to match the ORIGINAL QUANTITY with ZERO variance?

thanks......

Hi Sinan,

Your problem can be resolved by tuning the Autocost Rules (Tools --> Options --> Autocost Rules...).

There are several options (e.g. set ’Freeze resource units per time period’ to No, or set ’Use update percent complete against budget to estimate Actual quantity to date’ to No), but these options must be applied with care and they depend on your project characteristics.

Here are two resources that may help you:
A very detailed presentation paper from Ron Winter: http://www.ronwinterconsulting.com/rabaseline.htm
The "Planning Using Primavera P3® Version 3.1 - Revised 2006" book by Paul E Harris addresses the Autocost rules in its chapter 19 (book sample is available on http://www.eh.com.au/index.htm)

Hope this helps...
