Pentre Engineering Design & Manufacture Cable Reels for heavy cables, these reels can typically take tens of tonnes load & be wound to high line tensions.

Employed to design and detail various types of cable reel and associated items using AutoCad V12. The design work involved detailed Stress Analyses on all aspects of a reel from barrel buckling due to wire wedging through to spoke bending due to dead (and dynamic) loading.  I was trained as a Network Supervisor (Novell Netware).

Mechanical Design / Project Engineer, Hunting Engineering, Numerous

Hunting Engineering provide electrical & mechanical design solutions to the Ministry of Defence.

Employed to design mechanical elements for the fitting of communications suites into a broad range of military vehicles (often involving undertaking stress calculations with applicable ā€˜gā€™ loadings). The role involved all aspects of mechanical design; initial concept, liaison with customer, concept design, final design (and drawings), writing of installation procedures. I had to undergo a six week vetting procedure to obtain MOD security (SC level) clearance.

Management of a small team & a number of work packages from preliminary design through to implementation including the responsibility for ensuring the project was delivered to time & budget. This included the evaluation of proposal   drawings,   providing time estimates for work involved to engineer, design and detail any mechanical items required to meet the proposals & relevant client specifications.
