I joined the Hong Kong branch of Nishimatsu Construction Co, Ltd,  one of Japan's largest general contractors, listed on the Tokyo stock exchange as a site-based Quantity Surveyor. 

MTRC Contract 408Z  was an advanced works contract for the Island line. It involved construction to engineer's design of cut and cover tunnels, rock tunnels (approximately 2 km in length), shafts and rock caverns to receive rock crushes and conveyors (by others), site formation, major marine reclamation and seawalls together with elevated and at grade roads.

Quantity Surveyor, Taylor Woodrow International Ltd, Kano Ring Roads, College of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt

I was initially sent by TWI  to Kano to become a member of the claims team who was trying to resolve Taylor Woodrow of Nigeria's final account  for the Kano ring roads.  This involved major rerating of much of the works as the project had suffered considerable disruption due to the nonavailability of the original borrow areas, availability of works areas being out of sequence from that specified in the contract, failure to certify by the engineer, failure to pay engineers certificates by the employer amongst other issues that had arisen.

Working back in Western House, London, I was initially involved with estimating quantities for roads (>70km) and site formation for major LNG plant to be located in Bintulu, Sarawak.  after that, I was then involved with all of the  pre-commencement commercial setup, including contract administration manuals, budgets, cost coding, procurement et cetera for a series of missile bases to be built for the National Guard in Saudi Arabia.
