How Baseline Dates are calculated in Primavera P6 for Earned Value Management
8 years 38 weeks agoPrimavera P6 give us an option to decide that Baseline date is equal to Planned date or Current date.
The main purpose of this option is for Earned Value calculation.
I’ll explain that option in this article.
We have a simple project containing 3 activities. Each activity is assigned resource A.
Standard Deviation for Project Managers
8 years 38 weeks agoStandard deviation is an abstract concept derived from observation rather than calculation or experimentation. The standard deviation (SD, also represented by the Greek letter sigma or σ) is a measure that is used to quantify the amount of variation or dispersion in a set of data values; and is expressed as a quantity defining how much the members of a group

-a primer on mass mismanagemnet
Statistics cite chronic and epidemic delay and overspend in the building industry is only getting worse over time. Naturally, the bigger the headache, the bigger the pill, and the Olympic Games are a horse pill. As the Games must go on, they make deadline, but average about 167% overspend. Full Phase CPM Schedule Management
8 years 40 weeks agoThe central focus of construction project schedules is invariably on the build-out trajectory, or more specifically, the builder’s work and responsibilities. Despite design deliverables residing squarely within the critical path, they are seldom adequately represented in pre-construction schedules. This practice ultimately does a disservice to the end user, or stakeholders, because it doesn’t
CPM Baseline, Recovery, Mitigation Schedules: What’s in a Name?
8 years 40 weeks agoStakeholders struggle mightily with the definition of the terms baseline, recovery, mitigation, and completion schedules, and how they differ from one another. That is most unfortunate for CPM schedulers who invariably are handed client directives that are less than well planned or reasonable. The difficulty clearly lies in the
CPM Baselines: Where Did Your CPM Baseline Go?
8 years 40 weeks agoCPM baselines are snarky by nature. Many project teams regard them as ends in themselves: issued preliminarily, and then discarded, as opposed to “that to which all that follows shall be compared” (my definition).
