Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

I am creating a revised target program. I have a number of activities which start dates are pushing out past the data date or will not fix to the date I assign. These activities have no constraints and no relationships! Something is driving them but it is unclear what. The start and finish dates show a star symbol even though no constraints or relationships are assigned? Has anyone come across this before?

There are other ways to clear the external links, but Frederick method is quick and simple.

Bill,

Try to open up the Predecessor or Relationship Column.

Bill,

I faced the same issue: Star symbol on finish dates while no constraint was assigned.
It was coming from field "External finish date". Indeed, when some inter-project relationship are lost, P6 is constraining Early/late dates. Like this, it is artificially keeping time logic.

To recover a proper schedule, add column "External finish date" and manually remove date within cells.
Launch calculation, everything should be OK,

regards
