Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

I’m currently running P6.0 and have a client requirement to supply a programme in P6 & P3 format. I find I am unable to export to P3 even though articles I’ve read on the subject say that the problem exists only from P6.2 onwards. Anyone else have the same problem, or know of a fix??

Tamara,

Layouts within P3 and SureTrak would be saved on separate fields, you would not be able to see or change P3 Layouts nor SureTrak Layouts while at the other software but neither any data nor any layouts were lost.

Are you Shure you cannot define the P3 layouts from within P3, import to P6 and thereafter will be transferred back and forth? Same as it was between P3 and SureTrak. They are all Primavera products and ORACLE/Primavera takes good care of their client needs, it is just about two generation of products, is not like thy had a generation of products in between. Even Microsoft products can read up to various generations back.

Best Regards,
Rafael

Hopefully, you have access to P3, or at least Suretrak, so you can verify the output.

Layouts will not be ’converted’, which can be irritating for an owner. We’ve found that the schedule should be flowed to verify that the dates match between what we publish in Project Management and what is converted to P3. We also check for the stray activity/description that extends beyond 48 characters.

Thomas,
If you having problem converting P3 using P6 the XER to P3 converter provided by Primavera. By default it is located at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Primavera Common\Convert directory.
You need to export XER first and convert XER to P3 files.
