Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Hi all!
I am having problems in installing P5 stand alone on Windows Vista. It always says "Bad user name for SQL"
when I try configuring the database.
Is there a database conflict with Vista??
Need info!

Regards,
Suraj

Hi,

Yes! Vista does not support P5.0 database. The PMDB uses MSDE database for standalone applications. However, if you upgrade your MSDE database to full blown MS SQL Server 2000 (or higher version) then there will be no problem in use with Vista.

The problem is that P5 uses an MSDE database for stand alone installes. Vista doesn’t support MSDE and P6 will have MS SQLServer 2005 delivered with it for Vista support.

P4 doens’t use MSDE, so that might work on Vista.

Thanks!
So does it mean that I can install P4 on Vista but not P5?

Hi Suraj,

I think better use P3 in XP environment and MS Office 2003.

Also be wary of MS Office 2007.

Cheers,

Joseph

You’ll have to wait for P6.
P5 doesn’t work under Vista
