Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Does anyone know how to change the duration calculation when you change calendar after the project has been set up.

eg.
I have a plan that was set up using a 1-8-5 calendar, I have changed the activities to a 2-10-7 calendar, but the duration still shows using a 1-8-5 calendar.

Cheers
Dave

sorry to let us know, no change in P6. the "duration" is determined by user perference within the "calculated dates" by defined calendar.

Which means the display value in duration is keep on changing if user preference is changed.

Version 5 is the same. No "rumors" that version 6 will be any different BUT will probably allow a work-around.

Dave,
Thanks, I just discussed this with our admin. It does pose a problem to our field plans that do not work 1-8-5. The default for our database has to be 1-8-5 for mfg. Do you know if version 5 has address this?
BTW, 3-1 would have been easy with Utd. It is going to be a tough season as an arab.

Alex,
1-8-5 is 1 shift, 8 hours, 5 days. Therefore 2-10-7 is 2 shifts, 10 hours, 7 days. I don’t know if this is just Canadian terminology, but it makes sense to me.

Cheers and Thanks for the help.

Let me guess.

You changed all the activity’s calandars, but mysteriously all the durations for the summary bars have stayed the same?

In P3e all summary durations are calculated as the number of working periods between the start and finish of the summary bar as measured on the database’s default calandar. The default calandar is "ticked in the global calandar display.
