Website Upgrade Incoming - we're working on a new look (and speed!) standby while we deliver the project

Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

We were having numerous GPFs on a new installation, until we found out that Service Packs are not included on the install CD.
The release notes failed to mention that you have to download Service Packs from the web site.
SP2 includes SP1; SP3 includes SP1 & SP2 so you only need the latest, SP3.

SP3 was been released in September 2004

The following known issues in P3 3.1 have been fixed in Service Pack 3:

1. Wrong relationship when you draw a relationship with the pitchfork after renumbering an activity ID.
2. Saving a Global change with temporary variables that access WBS changes the Temp variable name to have periods.
3. Inconsistency between resource tabular report and profile.
4. Changing activity ID to an ID that already exists moves the relationships.
5. Insert resource assignment multiplies the BQ by 100.
6. Resource loading report incorrectly spreading designated resources after storing period performance.
7. BCWS calculation is inconsistent between spreads and columns/reports. NOTE: The BCWS calculation issue is addressed with a new setting (BCWSSpreadOpt) in the P3.ini file. To enable the BCWS calculation fix, open P3.ini for editing and add "BCWSSpreadOpt=1" under the [Options] section. A value of "1" enables the setting; "0" (zero) disables it. By default, P3.ini is located in the C:\WINNT or C:\Windows directory. After setting the option, ensure that you save the file before closing it. The setting will take effect the next time P3 is launched.

Included in P3 3.1, Service Pack 1:
------------------------------------
1. General Printing error with Windows 2000 and Windows XP.
2. The inability to change default printers or printer settings with Windows 2000 and Windows XP.
3. Printing problems with Adobe 4.x - Error printing to PDF writer. (See Exceptions and Workarounds for Printing Issues below for instructions to print to Adobe Distiller).
4. Printing problems with Adobe 5.x.(See Exceptions and Workarounds for Printing Issues below for instructions to print to Adobe Distiller).
5. General Protection Fault error when using Primavera Look with Windows 2000 and Windows XP.
6. When you send and receive completed activities through P3 mail, the Actual Finish is now correct after merging the data into the project.
7. If the activity has constraints, the resource loading report totals now match the Resource table.
8. After storing period performance data, the resource loading report now correctly spreads the designated resources.
9. Error when filtering by project code if more than 642 subprojects exist.

Included in P3 3.1, Service Pack 2:
------------------------------------
1. The resource and cost distributions on hammock, finish flag, and finish milestone activities are now correct.
2. Edits made in the Sightlines dialog are now saved properly.
3. When a project is open and a resource assignment has a resource curve assigned, the Resource Curves Dictionary is correctly copied if the project is copied.
4. Fixed General Protection Fault error in Prmbatch when executing a Report Writer report.
5. A resource/cost tabular report saved in .DBF format will display properly when opened in Excel.
