Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

hi friends,

i have a problem allocating resourses to an activity please help.

***Let the activity is related to Mechanical construction
with a Known Quantity "X"

* I know the production rate for one category of labour
say "A" for the activity "X"
* All other labour category can be related to "A" by a
factor. say 1, 1.2, 0.75 etc...

This is what i am having right now.

If i calculated the budgeted quantity for each labour category and enter, this will not change if the quantity changes....

what i want is that physicaly i can enter once all these data and i need the program to load the resouses and give me an out put in Tabular or Graphical format.

is anybody know a solution!!!!! then please let me know..

Renjith,
The task you described can be solved using Spider Project software.
In this package you can create reference-books with the production rates (productivities) of resources on different assignment types and apply these data to any project.
Activity duration will depend on activity type, work volume (quantity) and total productivity of the assigned crews.
Is this what you wanted?
Best Regards,
Vladimir

hi Andrew,
Thanks for ur response. but the problem is not yet fixed for me.

actually what i need is to link one resource with the other so that the change in the 1st resource will change the second one automatically.

Eg.

Activity 1 - Needes 100 Pipe fitter months
- for each pipe fitter, there should be 1 pipe welder.

Is it possible to give a relation like this?

let me know if any body have a hint. or send me a sample project which is resource loaded in this passion.

also please tell me how effectively we can use primavera in the estimation point of view.

Step 1.
Create resource dictionary with Normal usage rate for each resource (you may also set Max usage - if you wanna analyze the availability of resources through the project lifecycle)
Step 2.
Assign the Budget qty for each activity basing on UPT (units per time period) rather then BQ. P3 will calculate BQ automatically.

Consider the checkbox Freeze UPT in Autocost rules.
Check it if you wish to follow this scenario:
RD- is increasing, UPT - doesn’t change, BQ - is increasing
Uncheck it:
RD- is increasing, UPT - is decreasing, BQ - doesn’t change

Best regards,
Andrew
