Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Hi Everyone,

This is my first post as I am a new entrant to planning. I am currently trying to estimate the productivity rates for ductwork and under in the M&E section, ducting is 1.2 to 1.5 sqm/day/man.

I am confused with the use of square meter. So ductwork of 800x600mm for a run of 10 meters would take, Ductwork Square meterage [(0.8+0.6)*2]*10=28, then 28/1.2= 24 days for single person crew??

Some of team member go by measuring volume; which is correct?

Also, there is a pump , one active on standby, each pair for a wet riser and the other for sprinkler. We have no idea but we put 15 days for installation? Am I close?

Thanks in advance!

Thank you Mike. I have managed to get my hands on Spon's M&E and AB.

Hi Steven

It is best not to put too much faith in the PP rates section as they are not vetted by anybody.

Best to use an estimating handbook such as Spons M&E Services which follows the latest method of measurement..

Here the ductwork is classified as The Sum of Two Sides in mm so a 300 x 200 duct (or 400 x 100) would be 500 mm and the labour constant is set as 1.32 m per hour.

Dont forget the inline fittings - a fire damper is 18.48 hours each.

An 80 mm direct drive pump is 15 hours

A 150 mm pump is 38.5 hours.

Don't just guess - do some research.

Best regards
