(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

Hi

I AM USER OF P6 I HAVE A SMALL PROB. I AM MAKING NEW BASE LINE SCH.
VERY FIRST ACTIVITY IS THE STARTING MILESTONE, AND SECOND ACTIVITY IS THE KICKOFF MEETING THE RELATION FIRST ACTIVITY TO SECONED ACTIVITY FS..

HOWEVER THE START DATE OF FIRST ACTVITY AND SECOND AVTIVITY ARE SAME...

EXAMPLE

FIRST ACTIVITY -NTP START DATE 14-08-08
SECONED ACTVITY-KICK 15-08 08 BUT THE THE SATRT DATE OF SECOND ACTIVITY SAME AS 14-08-08

CAN ANY ONE LET ME ADVISE WHERE I AM INCORRECT.

Guys i ask one question to Mr.Arnold regarding resource update he advise me to do the setting as follows.
Hello-Shahzad

From Setting -> Calculations: Under Calculactions -> Resource Assignments "Recalculate Actual Units and Cost when duration % complete changes". Meaning everytime you make progress based on duration the resource units will also changes based in your input duration % complete because duration % complete is link to units % complete. Please check the attached files. You can manually change the units % complete based on physical % complete. Try to uncheck also the "Recalculate Actual Units and Cost when duration % complete changes" from Project Detail and observe what will happen. 1. Performance % Complete = The % Complete is used to compute Earned Value and maybe based on the Activity % Complete.2. Physical % Complete = % Complete can either be user entered or calculated from the activity’s weighted steps.3. Duration % Complete = The % Complete of the Activity Duration. Computed as (Original Duration - Remaining Duration)/Original Duration * 100

for time being problem seem to be solved with arnold Advise.

If the Starting MS have the realation with Critical
(long path)Activity then the total duration of the project will be exceed up to 1 day.due to this lag.

in that case please advise

Arnold has suggested in post#5, to put a lag of 01day. It shud have worked then too.

yes you are right even i did in P3 it is working.
in case of P6 & P5 we have to put lag then only it will be work.

Hi Shahzad,

Whats ur Unit of Time? (Days or Hours?)

It might be in hours and u might have put lag as 01 and that might be in hours and not days.

Alternatively, Change ur timescale to hours and let us know the start and finish time in hours.

It shud work as it is in P3.

YES , NTP IS THE PREDECESSOR , KICKOFF ( SUCCESSOR) OF NTP

I ALLREADY PUT 1 DAY LAG AND TRY BUT IT IS NOT WORKING,

I CHECKED MY CLEANDER AS WELL FRIDAY IS NON WORKING DAY YOU ARE RIGHT FRIDAY NO WROK.

THEN IT SHOULD COME 16-08-08

Hi Shahjad,

I just want to clarify from you, NTP is the Predecessor or Successor? If NTP is the Predecessor, then just put 1 Day LAG, Relationship "FS" with Kickoff (Successor). Likewise, try to check your Calendar. Because here in UAE, during Friday we do not have work. 15-08-08 is Friday. So, automatically the ES of Successor will be on 16-08-08 (Saturday).

THE SAME THINIG I DID IN P3 IT IS WORKING FINE .

MEANS THE SECOND ACTIVITY WILL BE START AFTER FINISHED THE FIRST ONE.

NTP (ACTIVTY TYPE SM) ES 14-08-08 PREDESS..

KICKKOFF ( ACTY.TASK) ES 15-08-08 FS , NTP IS THE SUCSES...

EVEN IF I PUT LAG THERE IS NO CHANGE.

COULD YOU ADVISE ME HOW I CAN FIXED THIS PROB IN P6..

Hi Shahzad,

The reason why the ES of your Predecessor & Successor are the same it is because the Activity Type of your Predecessor (NTP) is “Start Milestone” which is Zero Duration. Milestones has no duration and do not consume time.
