Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

In P3 or Microsoft Project 2002?

Here are some extracts from my books, unfortunately you do not get the pictures:

In P3
Resource curves allow you to assign a non-linear distribution of your resources over time. For example, a Bell shape could be used to reflect a build up of resources at the start of an activity and a drop off at the end of an activity.

16 curves may be created, with a Designator of 0 to 9, A to F.

To creating a Resource Curve, Select Data, Resource Curves to open the Resource/Cost Distribution Curves form.
· New curves may be created by pressing the Insert key or clicking on the + icon.
· Type in the Title.
· To alter the shape of the curve either type in new values in the bottom row or drag the top of the histogram with the mouse pointer.
· The Total will add up all the percentages. These do not initially have to add up to 100. Once you have developed the required shape you may then use the Prorate to adjust the percentages to total 100.
· Restore restores the curve to the original shape.

Now assign the curve to a resource in the Resource form.

In Microsoft Project 2002,
A Resource Assignment may be assigned to a task with a non-linear profile. This function is titled Work Contour and is similar to the Resource Curve function in Primavera P3 and SureTrak software. To assign a contour to a resource assignment, open the Assignment Information form by:
1. Double-clicking on a resource in the Task Usage or Resource Usage view, or
2. Right-clicking on a resource and selecting Assignment Information from the menu.

From the Work contour: drop-down box, select the Work Contour type.

The Flat option allows you to type in any value into each on the cells. A resource assignment is automatically set to Flat when one entry is made in the table.
