Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

Individual Resource full time for the Project - Allocation

Hello Everyone,

 

Just a doubt regarding resource allocation. If we have a Resource which is common throughout the project or throughout a WBS say like,

ResourceWBS
Project ManagerThrought the Project
Construction ManagerConstruction
Planning EngineerThrought the Project
Procurement ManagerProcurement
Contracts ManagerThrought the Project
ExpeditorProcurement
Engineering ManagerEngineering

Is there a way to distribute this Resource Individually for the Project or WBS and it would automatically distribute the resource to all the activity under that Project or WBS.

Otherwise if this Common Reource are allocated individually to each activity , it would take much of time and after allocation to Activities, in Resourse Usage Spreadsheet it will shows as 2 Nos like this,

Resouce - Project Manager

Activity 10.330.33    
       
Activity 20.330.330.33   
       
Activity 3 0.330.330.330.33 
       
Activity 40.330.330.330.330.33 
       
Activity 5  0.330.330.330.33
       
Total1.001.331.331.001.000.33

And we know that Project Manager for a Project Would be jsut 1.

That did work. But this activity would be shown in the schedule and the Progress wont be calculated automatically which we would have to update by overself.

But as we require this is for the Support Staff or Support ITem or Equipment.

Hi Jithin,

Add an activity as Level of Effort, from Project Start to Project Finish. Assign the common resources to this activity.

Hi Adeb,

Ya the resource can be allocated at once like that but it wont show in a uniform maner as the same resource would be allocated to the paralell activities and as I have shown in the table "Porject Manager is 1, but if we allocate it to paralell activities then it will show as more than 1 Project Manager.

Hi Jatin. I think you should select all activities once. And then in "assign" option click on resource. Then select all the common resource you want to add. And assign them. Hope it is helpful.
