Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Hi

I have entered a task which I know will take one day and I want to show it taking place within a four day period eg duration of task 1 day start date 4th May and end date 7th May. The task may be done on either 4th, or 5th or 6th or 7th but will only take one day.

Please help as I know I have done this in the past!

Thanks a lot

Thanks. All in bar style, just finish a test on Project2k and work. I do a backward scheduling and store the late start/finish in a custome field. Then do the forwars scheduling scheduling again to back to early dates. Now display both early and late bars by Bar style.

I think what MKTSE means, is make sure your task has a 3 day float and only 1 day duration. In the Bar Style Options, put Float bar over the other bars defined in the Bar Style Options i.e. put the float bar as the last row in your bar definition.

China - thanks very much for your reply but I am not sure how do do what you suggest. Can you describe what I do from Gantt Chart view as I have tried all the buttons on the task information box with no success.

Thanks again

Use the calcaulated float the work out the start/finish dates of float bar and put the bar against the normal earier bar.
