Planning Manager, IHC Merwede Engineering Business Ltd (Previously The Engineering Business), Technip, Sapura, OSX, Petrofac,

START Date:
January, 2012

Dear fellow members,

I am currently the Planning Manager at the IHC Merwede Engineering Business. The business specialises in offshore equipment, which includes (but is not limited to) Pipe Lay Equipment, Ploughs, Trenchers, Carousels, and A-Frame lifting equipment.

As part of my role I run a planning team, of which I have five other members, of varying degrees of experience. I am striving to create a consistent approach to planning, and project controls, to which we can make the correct decisions to manage our projects.

I have introduced a number of new initiatives such as Earned Value Management Techniques, a Value of Work approach to claim project progression in line with payment milestones (ensuring compliance to IAS 18), as well as SPI and CPI metrics.

As part of my role I also audit suppliers and conduct supplier visits for progression purposes. I also help to train and support suppliers in the development of their own plans.

There are many other aspects to my role including department and business process development, as I have been exposed to 6 Sigma and also developing Product Development Processes in previous roles.
